Gary Sadlemyer To Retire From Mornings At KFAB

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
October 29, 2025

Gary Sadlemyer 1110 KFAB OmahaAfter 49 years at iHeartMedia News/Talk 1110 KFAB Omaha NE, Gary Sadlemyer will retire from the station on Friday, December 12.

Sadlemyer has been with the station since December 1976 and hosted the station’s first daily talk show. He has anchored the “KFAB Morning News” on the station for over 30 years. During his tenure, he has also served as Program Director and was part of University of Nebraska football broadcasts from 1980 to 1995. He began his career at KRGI Grand Island in 1973 spending three years in mornings before arriving at KFAB. He was inducted into the Nebraska Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2011.

While retiring from mornings, Sadlemyer will work to provide personalized content for station advertisers as well as making guest and fill-in appearances on the station for his 50th year at KFAB.

Sadlemyer stated, “Time sure flies when you’re havin’ fun. Since I was a kid growing up in Minnesota, I had a passion for radio. It’s just like anything else, kids who dream about being a doctor or whatever; mine was radio.”

KFAB Program Director and 9-11am host Scott Voorhees will join current morning co-hosts Jim Rose, Lucy Chapman and news anchor Craig Evans in mornings after Sadlemyer’s departure. Voorhees said, “I’m excited to join the morning team to continue to make KFAB Omaha’s well-informed, trusted friend with whom you laugh, cry, and get through the day together –the ideals that Gary embodies better than anyone.”
