Anaheim Broadcasting General Manager Jeffrey Parke will retire from overseeing Rock 96.7 KCAL-FM Redlands and Classic Hits 99.9 KOLA-FM San Bernardino CA on July 24.
Parke has been with the company since 1987 first as Sales Manager and was promoted to General Manager of KCAL-FM in 1989. He added KOLA-FM when then then-automated station was acquired in 1991 and relaunched. During his time with the company, he also oversaw the relaunch of then-sister 94.9 KRMX San Diego as Oldies “K-Best” KBZT until its 1996 sale when he returned to KCAL-FM/KOLA. Prior to joining KCAL-FM, Parke began his career on-air in 1979 ay KLOM Santa Maria and later worked at KTMS-FM Santa Barbara before moving to sales at KARA-FM San Jose and then KMGG turned KPWR Los Angeles where then General Manager Tim Sullivan would recruit him to KCAL-FM when he acquired it.
Parke commented, “My career has been blessed with extraordinary opportunities and extraordinary people. I consider myself incredibly lucky for the 40 years I have had here. I’ll miss the business, but most of all, I will miss each and every person I worked with and still work with today. I created lifelong friendships with everyone who was a part of our unique radio family. I plan to stay connected to all of them even after I am gone.”
He continued, “I will forever be indebted to Tim Sullivan, who gave me my chance and trusted me to run the stations and make them the powerhouses they are today. Tim and I worked together for nearly four decades. He was my mentor and taught me all about leadership. But most of all, he was a dear friend. I had some of the best times of my life at and away from work with Tim. Very few people get the opportunity to spend four decades doing work they genuinely love. I was fortunate to work alongside talented broadcasters, dedicated employees, loyal advertisers, and wonderful friends. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing.”
