The University of Southern California has announced that Bill Lueth will retire as President of 90.3 KDFC San Francisco at the end of June ending a 38 year career spent mostly in San Francisco and in the Classical format.
Lueth began his career as an announcer at Classical 95.7 KKHI San Francisco in 1989 and would rise to Program Director. When the station flipped to News/Talk KPIX-FM in 1994 he would remain on as a news anchor. He would join Classical 102.1 KDFC in 1997 as morning host and again would rise to Program Director and later Director of Operations for Bonneville San Francisco. During that tenure he would also program Variety Hits “95.7 Max-FM” KMAX-FM from 2005-07.
When USC acquired the IP to KDFC and later relaunched the brand as a non-comm on 90.3 San Francisco in 2011 and growing it to other signals in adjacent areas, Lueth would be named President. He later oversaw the programming integration with 91.5 KUSC Los Angeles and became VP/Marketing & Sales for the organization.
Classical California President James Muhammad commented, ““Bill’s commitment to making classical music accessible to everyone has shaped Classical California in lasting ways. He helped grow our audience, deepen our community impact, and position Classical California for continued success.”
