Opry Entertainment Group Talk/Classic Country 650 WSM Nashville morning host Trent ‘Bill Cody’ Clutts passed away today at the age of 68.
Cody, who was inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame in 2008, had hosted “Coffee, Country & Cody” on WSM since 1994 and has long served as the voice of the Grand Ole Opry.
Cody began his radio career in 1971 at WLBN Lebanon KY at the age of 12. He would join WVLK Lexington in 1977 followed by WHAS Louisville in 1979. He would briefly host mornings at WCII Louisville in 1985 before moving to WHOO-FM Orlando. Cody spent seven years at 680 KKYX San Antonio TX from 1987 until 1994 when he joined WSM. Cody also hosted the syndicated “GAC’s Classic Country Weekend With Bill Cody” and on television “GAC’s Master Series”. Cody will be inducted posthumously into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame next month.
WSM says it will honor Cody with a special marathon of moments from Coffee, Country & Cody. Services have yet to be announced.
