Alpha Media News/Talk 550 KTSA San Antonio has added an FM signal with the sign-on of 107.1 K296GK Pleasanton, TX from its new location in downtown San Antonio.
KTSA is the #2 commercial Talker in the San Antonio market behind iHeartMedia’s 1200 WOAI.
It is the third translator launched in the market by Alpha. In December they signed-on 94.5 K233DB rebroadcasting Sports 1250 KZDC. Earlier this month Alternative “103.3 The App” K277CX debuted, however antenna issues quickly took it off air, with its return awaiting FCC approval.
Alpha Media/San Antonio is now simulcasting News/Talk KTSA-AM on its FM translator K296GK-FM at 107.1 FM as well as its original frequency 550 AM.
Executive VP of Programming Scott Mahalick said, “Adding the FM frequency to our news talk station will not only help increase ratings and revenue, but will play a key role in exposing our brand to the FM audience and the socially conscious and connected community.”
Program Director Greg Martin added, “This is a great step forward for KTSA and talk radio around the country. We all know taking this format to the FM opens us to an audience that has never been inclined to use AM. This move also says something about Alpha Media’s commitment to the growth and success of all of its brands.”
Market Manager Lance Hawkins commented, “KTSA being available on both the AM and FM dial enables Alpha Media to reach out to a larger and more broad audience in the San Antonio Metro area. The simulcast is key in opening up new Live and Local opportunities in our community.”
