The next market to see its heritage News/Talk station make the shift to FM will be Peoria.
Triad Broadcasting will soon eliminate Classic Rock “102.3 Max-FM” WDQX to make room for a simulcast of 1470 WMBD. Triad registered 1023WMBD.com and 1023MBD.com on Friday for the station.
In the Fall 2011 Arbitron book, 102.3 Max-FM rose from a 2.3 to 3.3 share. The removal of that station will help Townsquare Media’s combo of Active Rock “105.7 The X” WIXO and Classic Rock 95.5 WGLO. Those two stations registered a 5.8 and 3.6 share respectively. WMBD was fifth in the market with a 6.4 share.
WMBD currently rebroadcasts its signal on 100.3 W262BY. The 200 watt translator will become redundant with the move of 1470’s programming to 102.3.
