While “Rock 108” WWRQ Valdosta will flip to Urban “107.9 The Beat“, the current format will not completely disappear.
The Rock format will move to 106.9 W295AO Valdosta as “Rock 106.9” eliminating Classic Rock “106.9 The Eagle” from the cluster. Southern Stone has begun promoting the changes, but has not announced a date that they will take place.
Original Report 8/16: Southern Stone Communications is prepping a format change at “Rock 108” 107.9 WWRQ-FM Valdosta, GA.
WWRQ’s website is gone, while one for Urban “107.9 The Beat” is up in its place. The new format is being billed as “Valdosta’s New Home For Hip Hop And R&B” and flank sister Urban AC “Star 105.3” WSTI against WGOV Inc’s “V96” 96.7 WGOV-FM.
WWRQ-FM was the lowest rated of Southern Stone’s five FM’s in the Valdosta market; the only company currently subscribing to the local book. It registered a 3.0 share in the Spring 2015 Nielsen Audio ratings.
