In response to CBS shifting 107.5 KMVK from Spanish CHR to Regional Mexican on Friday, Univision has countered by shuffling programming on a few of its Dallas market stations.
Regional Mexican “La Jefa” moves from 107.1 KFZO Benbrook to 107.9 KESS-FM Lewisville. This marks the second frequency change for the format, which moved from 99.1 to 107.1 in June 2012.
The 107.1 signal is now simulcasting Spanish AC “Maxima 99.1” KDXX Denton.
The moves displace Rhyhtmic CHR “Hot 107.9” off the air just two months after its debut.
Unaffected by the changes are Regional Mexican “La Que Buena 94.1” KLNO Fort Worth and Spanish News/Talk “Univision America 1270” KFLC Fort Worth.
INSTANT INSIGHT: The moves should allow “Maxima 99.1/107.1” to acquire some of the audience displaced by KMVK’s change. The three signals priority is to flank 94.1 KLNO, which is the cash cow of the Univision Dallas cluster and now under direct attack from CBS.
