On the heels of the cuts at Hubbard Radio Chicago, another round of layoffs has hit the company’s St. Louis cluster.
Among those affected as reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch are longtime KSHE Program Director Rick Balis, KSHE morning show producer Carl ‘The Intern’ Middleman, and Variety Hits “106.5 The Arch” morning hosts Spencer Graves and Brandon ‘Brando’ Luttman.
Rick Balis first joined KSHE in 1976. After brief runs programming KSD-FM and WLUP Chicago, Balis returned to the station in the early 80s as a programmer. He also served as VP/Programming for the former Emmis St. Louis cluster and Director of Rock programming when the station was owned by Emmis.
Middleman joined KSHE in 1990 as an intern eventually rising to Executive Producer and co-host on the morning show with John ‘U-Man’ Ulett and Lern.
“Spencer’s Neighborhood” host Spencer Graves joined WARH for mornings in 2015 from Delmarva Broadcasting CHR 93.7 WSTW Wilmington DE. His co-host Brandon ‘Brando’ Luttman had been with the station since 2007 starting as a part-time host before moving up to afternoons and then becoming part of the morning show. No word on the status of the third member of the show, Cassiday Proctor whose presence has also been wiped from the station’s website.
The newspaper reports that the remainder of the exits were of unnamed salespeople and off-air employees although we noticed at least one other on-air talent has been erased from their station’s website.
