North Country Radio AC 93.3 WSLP Saranac Lake and Border Media Classic Hits “102.1 Lake-FM” WRGR Tupper Lake NY will combine into a simulcast on Monday, July 1 as they rebrand as “The Mix“.

North Country Radio will be operating WRGR via LMA. The deal allows Border Media principles Ricki Lee and Hanna Kaleta to focus on their recently acquired 1160 WAIX Mechanicville NY and 93.3 W227DW Saratoga Springs, which will be relaunching as “Star Radio”

North Country Radio also owns Rock “Adirondack 105” 105.5 WLPW Lake Placid and 1240 WVSL/95.3 W237EY Saranac Lake.

North Country Radio and Border Media have announced that effective July 1, 2019, 93.3 WSLP-FM and 102.1 WRGR-FM will merge. Both stations will be rebranded as “The MIX”.

North Country Radio will be taking over the day to day operations of the Tupper Lake radio station and will be simulcasting the current WSLP programming on both frequencies.
“This is an exciting opportunity for us and our ability to serve a significantly larger area in the Tri-Lakes,” said North Country Radio owner, Jonathan Becker, “The combined signals of both stations will not only reach Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake, but will now be heard as far away as Long Lake, Star Lake and Cranberry Lake!”

Ricki Lee, president of Border Media is equally excited about the plans. “When Jon approached me with the idea of combining our efforts, it was a no brainier for us. I’m super excited to see the future growth of the new combined radio station.”

Since 2007, North Country Radio’s WSLP has become a local favorite providing a family friendly mix of music, local news, weather and up to date information about a wide variety of community events and activities. WSLP’s annual North Country Life Flight fundraising event, “Wing Wars”, was recently recognized with a Serving NY Award by the New York State Broadcasters Association.

“With our expanded coverage area we will become a much more regional operation,” said Vice President and General Sales Manager, Jim Williams, “With the addition of WRGR and the launch of Adirondack 105 in May of 2018, we now have 2 stations on 5 different places on the dial and great, local radio for our residents and visitors to the area.”
