RadioInsight - Domain Insight 8/24: Connecticut Sports Changes (And A Bonus TV Report)

[membership level="2,3"] ESPN Radio may be losing its affiliate audible at its Bristol CT headquarters. iHeartMedia's " 97.9 ESPN " WUCS Windsor Locks/Hartford and " ESPN Radio 1300 " WAVZ New Haven look to be changing affiliations to the company's Fox Sports Radio as iHeart has registered FoxSports979.com and FoxSports1300.com . WUCS serves as a defacto flagship for ESPN Radio programming as it covers the network's Bristol CT headquarters. Both stations currently run the national ESPN Radio lineup outside of the local Rob Dibble Show hosted by the former MLB pitcher and ESPN and Fox Sports analyst (and son of longtime Hartford broadcaster) from 3-7pm and University of Connecticut sports. WUCS also carries New York Yankees baseball. Fox Sports Radio was previously available in Hartford on iHeart's 1410 WPOP from 2012 to 2015. Last week we reported on a potential change at Griffin Communications Rock focused Classic Hits “ 92.9 The Drive ” KBEZ Tulsa. Griffin has now added some additional domains beyond the originally registered 929TheRiver.com that point to potential stunt formats in the case of 929AllPolkaTulsa.com , 929AltMusic.com , and 929SmoothJazzTulsa.com or an alternate branding/descriptor in 929MusicVariety.com and 929TulsaVariety.com . With CBS set to drop the CW network in eight markets on September 1, the company has registered domains for some of the yet-to-be announced new brands for the eight stations. As previously revealed, KBCW-TV San Francisco will become " KPIX+ " KPYX as an extension of KPIX-TV and WPCW Pittsburgh will become " KDKA+ " WPKD-TV. For the rest of the markets, CBS appears to be going to a simple brand of the city followed by the channel number. Domains registered include: WUPA Atlanta - Atlanta69.com WKBD Detroit - Detroit50.com WPSG Philadelphia - Philly57.com (resurrecting its old branding) KMAX Sacramento - Sacramento31.com KSTW Seattle - Seattle11.com WTOG Tampa - Tampa44.com The new domains also extend to some of the company's other non-CBS network owned stations such as: KCAL Los Angeles - LosAngeles9.com WBFS Miami - Florida33.com WLNY New York - NewYork55.com CBS already owned Boston38.com for WSBK Boston and Texas21TV.com from KTXA Dallas.
