Rick Dees Partners With iHeartMedia For Two Streaming Channels

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
March 20, 2025

Rick Dees Classic Weekly Top 40iHeartMedia and Rick Dees Entertainment are partnering to launch two streaming channels.

“Rick Dees Weekly Top 40” will feature a 24/7 loop of Dees’ current week’s syndicated countdown show distributed nationally by Compass Media Networks. The second channel “Classic Rick Dees Top 40” will feature classic countdowns from the 1980s through 2000s.

Dees commented, “I’m excited to have these stations online for even more listeners to enjoy. I’m especially looking forward to the launch of the Top 40 archives station that is sure to bring a sense of nostalgia to listeners.”

To mark the launch, Dees will reunite with his former 102.7 KIIS-FM Los Angeles morning partner Ellen K on her morning show on AC 103.5 KOST Los Angeles on Friday, March 21.

These channels have been live for at least a month, if not longer. It’s a nice compliment to the long running classic AT40 channels.

Also helps fill in some of the chronological gaps from when Casey wasn’t hosting.

It’s good they finally made these deals, people have been basically trading Dees and Kasem countdowns across the Internet for the last several years, so it’s nice to actually be able to get most of them officially. I had been wondering why there was no press release for it, I guess it was a soft launch. Nostalgia is powerful, my wife was an 80s child and I was a 90s child, so it’s cool to reflectback on memories and moments from those eras. Casey is my favorite, but I think what Rick has is the cultural Zeitgeist of the time in which was broadcast.

For sure. But for the synth in some of the jingles and the now outdated chart feats that are mentioned, it’s amazing how timeless the AT40 shows are. Meanwhile some of the Dees shows are painfully stuck in the time period they were created. They’re still a fun listen, but Casey is 100x more friendly for replays on Classic Hits.

Any idea if this means we’ll be able to hear the pre-1985 shows that used the Cashbox charts, especially the super rare 1983 shows?
