As teased, Dick Broadcasting resurrected “Rock 105.5” WXQR-FM Jacksonville NC at midnight on Saturday.
The new/old brand will feature Compass Media Networks’ Dave & Mahoney in mornings. Sister “92.3 The River” WQSL afternoon host Lisa will add middays at WXQR. Cluster Promotions Coordinator Rose ‘Ro’ Hawkins will anchor afternoons.
WXQR-FM featured a Rock format from the 1970s until its August 2021 flip to Regional Mexican “La Pantera“. It would then relaunch as Spanish Rhythmic “Candela 105.5” in the fall of 2024.
WXQR-FM registered a 0.5 share in the January 2026 Eastlan ratings. Curtis Media’s Classic Rock 106.5 WSFL was third in the market with a 6.5 share.
Original Report 3/18: Nearly five years after flipping from Rock to Regional Mexican, Dick Broadcasting is teasing the return of the “Rock 105.5” brand to WXQR-FM Jacksonville NC.
The long dormant social media page was awoken on Tuesday with a post showing an Easter Egg cracking open stating “Easter weekend.. we roll back the rock 🤘”. The brand’s former MyRock105.com domain is now redirecting to an yet-to-be-registered domain.
