Danny and Kait Hill’s Frequency Broadcasting has relaunched CHR “Live 95.3” KLLY Bakersfield CA under its heritage “Kelly 95.3” identity.
The move brings back the brand used by the station from 1984 through 2015 as it evolved from AC to Modern AC to Hot AC to CHR until being relaunched as “Energy 95.3” in June 2015 and then “Live 95.3” in December 2024.
Frequency Broadcasting CEO Kait Hill commented, “We’re incredibly proud to bring Kelly back home. This is a brand that already has deep roots in Bakersfield. Bringing it back is about honoring that history while building something that feels fresh, relevant, and locally connected.”
COO Danny Hill added, “Kelly has always meant something in this market. Reestablishing that identity gives us a strong foundation to grow from, while still evolving the sound and presentation to meet today’s listener expectations.”
With the relaunch, the syndicated “Danny & Kait Show” moves to mornings on KLLY from new sister “Rewind 98.1” KRWI. Danny Hill previously served as PD/morning host at KLLY from 2010 to 2015 and again from 2017 to 2019.

I am THRILLED with this news. It’s very personal to me. My Dad, Ken Orchard build KLLY and named it after me. I still can recall the origin story. He sold the station to Buckley Broadcasting, and they kept the call letters until it sold to Alpha in 2015, and they changed the signature. When Alpha sold to Frequency, I’d hoped they’d bring the heritage Kelly 95 back. For obvious reasons, I’m very attached to these call letters – it’s my radio claim to fame. Thank you Danny and Kait Hill for honoring the heritage. I take this very personally, and it is an honor. Kelly Orchard.
