Just a few weeks after joining iHeartMedia AC “Sunny 99.1” KODA Houston as afternoon host, Tessa Barrera has jumped to Houston Public Media Public News/Talk 88.7 KUHF-FM where she will co-host “Hello Houston” from 11am to 1pm weekdays with Ernie Manouse.
The daily talk show is described as offering viewers and listeners a daily destination for conversations about the issues, ideas and stories that matter most to Greater Houston. Through interviews with local leaders, community personalities and experts on a variety of topics, the program reflects the diversity, vibrancy and resilience of the region while keeping audiences informed, inspired and connected. As a true multi-platform content initiative from Houston Public Media, Hello Houston reaches audiences wherever they are — across radio, digital, streaming and social media.
Barrera commented, “Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to tell the stories of the people who make Houston so special. Joining Hello Houston is an incredible opportunity to celebrate our community and connect with audiences in a new way. I’m honored to join Houston Public Media and work with the entire Hello Houston team to help shine a light on the stories and voices that make Houston such a remarkable place.”
Houston Public Media Associate VP/GM Josh Adams said, “Tessa’s warmth, curiosity and ability to connect with people make her an outstanding addition to Hello Houston. Alongside Ernie, she’ll continue the thoughtful, community-focused conversations that reach audiences across radio, television, digital, HPM+ streaming and social platforms.”
Barrera was previously part of “The Rod Ryan Show” on Rock/Alternative “94.5 The Buzz” KTBZ-FM from 2019 until the end of 2024. She also co-hosted “Houston Life” on KPRC-TV from July 2023 until this March. Prior to joining KTBZ-FM, Barrera spent four years as a reporter and sportscaster for KRIS/KZTV Corpus Christi and then was a news anchor and producer for iHeart News/Talk 640 KFI Los Angeles.
