The Truth About Podcasting: State of Podcasting addresses from Sounds Profitable’s Tom Webster and Dan Misener of Toronto-based “podcast growth agency” Bumper. CBC Podcast Playlist host Leah Simone Bowen will host a Q&A after their presentations.
How to Make Money in Podcasting in 2023. The “but how do you monetize it” discussion has never gone away in podcasting. Podcasting is still producing double-digit revenue growth, but the last year has seen recession worries, softening advertising, layoffs even at major players, and overinvestment in hit shows. Now, iHeart Media’s Sarah van Mosel, Quill’s Fatima Zaidi, TPX’s Lina Kim, and Cossette Media’s Kristin Wozniak look at the state of the industry.
Cool Tools for Your Radio Station From the World of Podcasting: Podcasting has benefited from having radio as a model. Now, radio futurologist James Cridland, editor of both Podnews and a newsletter on international radio trends, looks at what radio can take from podcasting, whether it’s recording software, microphones, and audio editing platforms, or just a renewed commitment to production and audio quality. He’ll also talk about podcasting’s lessons for repurposing broadcast audio.
Radio & Podcasting: Inside the Reinvention of Q: In 2016, musician and broadcaster Tom Power became the third host of CBC Radio’s successful arts showcase Q. Several years ago, his interview with Adele prompted a revamp of the show as “podcast first.” Podcaster Leah Simone Bowen of the CBC’s The Secret Life of Canada will moderate.
Audio Megatrends: Edison Research’s Podcast Metrics will supply the podcast portion of the data, along with Edison’s Infinite Dial and Share of Ear studies. Hosted by Edison’s Laura Ivey and Larry Rosin.
