Red Rock Radio Continues Sell-Off With Two Deals

Cool Country 100.9 WCMP-FM Red Rock Radio Q MediaRed Rock Radio continues the sell-off of its radio properties with two deals announced today.

Red Rock will sell Sports “Red Zone 1350” WCMP and Country “Cool Country 100.9” WCMP-FM Pine City MN to Alan Quarnstrom’s Q Media Properties for an undisclosed amount. Q Media owns four stations and two translators in Minnesota.

The second deal will see eight stations go to Jim Berkemeyer’s R&J Broadcasting. R&J will acquire “Red Zone Sports” KKIN Atkin/1270 WWWI Baxter, Classic Country 94.3 KKIN-FM Atkin, Classic Rock “KQ 96” 95.9 WWWI-FM Pillager, Conservative Talk “Talk 100” 100.1 KLKI Pequot Lakes, Variety Hits “101.5 Jack-FM” KFGI Crosby in the Brainerd Lakes region and Oldies 1230 KGHS and Country “K104.1” KSDM International Falls all in Minnesota. R&J currently owns four stations and one translator in the state.

Red Rock recently announced a deal to sell five stations to Midwest Communications and five others in July to Zoe Communications. Once these four deals close, Red Rock will have four stations remaining.

This is to announce that a contract has been signed and an application is being filed with the FCC for the transfer of radio stations KGHS(AM) and KSDM(FM), International Falls, MN; KKIN(AM/FM), Aitkin, MN; KFGI(FM), Crosby, MN; KLKS(FM), Pequot Lakes, MN; WWWI(AM), Baxter, MN; and WWWI- FM, Pillager, MN, from Red Rock Radio Corp. to R & J Broadcasting, Inc.

The Seller, Red Rock Radio Corporation, is a Minnesota-based company headed by Kathy Lau and Shawn Skramstad. Red Rock Radio Corp. owns 24 radio stations in Minnesota. Note, Red Rock Radio has previously filed applications to sell ten of its radio stations.

The Buyer, R & J Broadcasting, Inc., is headed by Jim Birkemeyer. R & J Broadcasting, Inc. currently owns five radio stations in Minnesota.

KGHS(AM) operates at 1230 kHz, with 0.46 kW day and 0.23 kW night. KKIN(AM) operates at 930 kHz, with 2.50 kW day and 0.36 kW night. WWWI(AM) operates at 1270 kHz, with 5.00 kW day and 5.00 kW night. KKIN(FM) operates at 94.3 MHz, with 14.00 kW at 436 HAAT.
KSDM(FM) operates at 104.1 MHz, with 8.50 kW at 171 HAAT.
KFGI(FM) operates at 101.5 MHz, with 25.00 kW at 328 HAAT.
KLKS(FM) operates at 100.1 MHz, with 5.20 kW at 351 HAAT.
WWWI(FM) operates at 95.9 MHz, with 6.00 kW at 240 HAAT.
