Original Report 11/28: After its failed rebranding of Classic Country “Wow 101.5/87.7” WOWZ-FM Chincoteague VA/WOWZ-LP Salisbury MD to “Cat Country” in October, GSB Broadcasting has instead moved the format to two new frequencies.
The Classic Country format and “Wow” branding are now heard on 99.3 WVES Accomac VA and 101.1 WICO-FM Snow Hill MD. GSB began operating the former “Shore Country 99.3” WVES via LMA in October and had flipped it a simulcast of WOWZ-FM. The company also purchased the former “101.1 Jack-FM” WSUX-FM for $262,500 and began operating it via LMA on November 1 with the WICO-FM call letters as the Variety Hits format moved to 94.9 WAMS Newark MD.
With the Classic Country format moved off of WICO-FM/WICO-LP, the station is now stunting as “Christmas 101.5” until debuting a new format after the holidays.
