Entercom News/Talk 830 WCCO Minneapolis has announced that KARE-TV anchor Cory Hepola will join the station on Monday, January 7 to host 9am to 12pm.
Hepola will fill the vacancy created by John Hines following his semi-retirement this summer. The Minnesota native has been anchoring weekend newscasts on KARE-TV alongside his wife Camille Williams. Hepola will exit KARE with his move to WCCO.
Prior to joining KARE, Hepola served as pre and post-game host for the Houston Astros and anchor for Comcast Sportsnet Houston. He has also worked at television stations in Austin, Rochester NY, Elmira, Helena, and Fargo.
Cory Hepola will join WCCO Radio in Minneapolis, beginning January 7th, 2019. In this role, Hepola will host 9am – 12pm Monday through Friday.
Joining Entercom Minneapolis from KARE 11, Hepola is a familiar face throughout the Twin Cities, gracing the covers of Twin Cities Business and being named a “Game Changer” in broadcasting in March of 2017. Hepola comes to WCCO Radio with a long list of achievements in broadcasting, including two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Anchor, with three additional nominations.
“Growing up in Perham, Minnesota, just seeing or hearing the iconic call letters – WCCO – gives me chills. The history here is amazing; for nearly 100 years, brilliant people have been laying a successful foundation of respect and trust at WCCO Radio. I’m thankful to be adding my voice, energy, and personality to this already incredibly talented staff,” says Hepola.
In nearly two decades as a broadcast journalist, Hepola has worked at numerous stations across the country, from Fargo, North Dakota to Rochester, New York to Austin, Texas, and brings generous knowledge to WCCO Radio. “We are very excited to welcome Cory to our team of reputable broadcasters and are looking forward to incorporating his wealth of knowledge and warm personality into the airwaves on WCCO Radio,” says Entercom Minneapolis’ Senior Vice President/Market Manager, Shannon Knoepke.
“We have a wonderful opportunity here to inform, unite, inspire, to creatively entertain, and to help others. This is a big responsibility and one I’m excited to take on with this amazing team,” regards Hepola, who will officially occupy the show on Jan. 7, 2019.
