Cumulus Media has promoted Kathy ‘KB’ Brown to VP/Urban Formats overseeing their 40 stations across Hip Hop, Adult R&B, Classic Hip Hop, and Gospel formats.
Brown has programmed Hip Hop “Z93” WWWZ and Adult R&B “Magic 107.3” WMGL Charleston SC since 2017 and will continue overseeing those stations as well. She has also held roles as Program Director of “100.3 The Beat” KMJM and Gospel “Hallelujah 1600” KATZ St. Louis, APD of “V103” WVEE Atlanta, and the dual role of Operations Manager of Radio One Baltimore and Regional Program Director for their R&B stations including at the time stations in Augusta, Baltimore Detroit, Los Angeles, Richmond, and Washington DC.
She commented, “I am excited to join the Cumulus senior content leadership team. I am fortunate to support a stellar group of Urban programmers who oversee legendary stations. We will continue our legacy of excellence.”
Cumulus Chief Programming Officer Brian Philips said, “By virtue of her veteran major-market leadership skills and perennial high achievement, KB became the clear choice of both our programming leaders and her peers in the Cumulus Urban fleet. Kathy already wears much programming responsibility gracefully and successfully in her Charleston role and in the region. This confirms our trust in her proven steady guidance and her stellar reputation within Cumulus.”
Brown fills the opening created by the exit of Kenny Smoov in August.
