People Moves 3/12: iHeartMedia Makes Cuts At WBZ

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
March 11, 2019

WBZ Newsradio 1030 Boston iHeartMediaiHeartMedia has made multiple cuts at News 1030 WBZ Boston.

Northeast Radio Watch reports that at least seven staffers exited last week. The highest profile name was afternoon co-anchor Josh Binswanger. Spending much of his prior career in television, Binswanger originally joined the station in August 2017 as morning co-anchor. Other exits included weekend talk hosts Dean Johnson and Marissa DeFranco, reporter Bill Marcus, and producers Vic Ramos, Garo Hagopian, and Fausto Menard.

Across the hall morning co-host Kesha Monk exits Urban AC “97.7 RNB” WKAF Brockton.

Bonneville Media Country 105.1 KNCI Sacramento is seeking a new Program Director allowing Group Director of Programming Chad Rufer to focus on his cluster duties and Hot AC “Now 100.5” KZZO. Interested applicants can apply here.

Nine months after joining Entercom Alternative “Alt 105.3” KITS San Francisco, Dan ‘Elvis Medina’ Lay has exited mornings at the station. Medina is best known in the market for his long run with Jeff ‘JV’ Vandergrift from 1993-2007 on “Hot 97.7” KHQT, “Wild 107.7” and “Wild 94.9” KYLD, and “106.9 Free-FM” KIFR. Co-host Daena ‘DK’ Kramer will remain in mornings solo.

iHeartMedia St. Louis Region Senior Vice President of Programming Greg Chance has announced his exit from the company at the end of May to join his family’s business. Chance, who has been with the company for 24 years, oversees programming for the company’s stations in Omaha and St. Louis and is Operations Manager of its Des Moines cluster.

Rick Daniels has announced that he has exited afternoons at Cumulus Country “Kissin 92.3” KIZN Boise. Daniels states that he has taken a new position closer to his five children. He had worked at multiple stations across Indiana in his career prior to joining Cumulus Boise in 2016.

Alpha Media Director of Digital Content Ernie Martinez has added the role of Program Director at Rhythmic CHR “Energy 94.1” KTFM Floresville/San Antonio. Martinez joined Alpha in February 2018 and has previously worked on-air and as Director of On-Air Programming for Radio Disney.

Central Florida Educational Foundation Christian AC “Z88.3” WPOZ Orlando has announced the addition of Coppelia Marie as afternoon co-host alongside Shadow. She will also serve as Program Director of Spanish Christian “La Z 102.5” W273CA, which launched last October. Coppeilia previous has worked at KSBJ Houston and Educational Media Foundation.

Z88.3 welcomes Coppelia Marie as she leaves KSBJ Houston and joins the Z Family as co-host with Shadow on Z88.3 Afternoons. Coppelia will also double as Program Director for La Z 102.5 – Orlando, Z88.3’s new Spanish Christian radio station.

She started her career in radio in her home territory of Puerto Rico before moving to California to work for KLOVE and Air 1. She moved south east to Houston to work for KSBJ and NGEN.

When she’s not on the air, you can find Coppelia trying to catch up with her kids’ sports activities! She also loves serving in church with her husband and once they move to Orlando, you’ll probably find her hanging out with her equally-Disney-obsessed sister at Walt Disney World!

We are excited about Coppelia’s move to Orlando to start at the Z ?on March 25.?

God is continuing to expand the reach of Z88.3 with six (soon to be seven) radio ministries including Z88.3, with the expansion into Ocala as well as welcoming new team members. Z88.3 is looking forward to seeing how God continues to use the Z Family of Christian radio stations into the new decade.
