The Moody Bible Institute has announced its intent to sell 1110 WMBI Chicago, 960 WDLM East Moline IL, and 1470 WGNR Anderson IN as part of of a plan to further the expansion of their Moody Radio brands “through the addition of digital/online content, new apps in both English and Spanish, and the acquisition of select FM broadcast licenses”.
The three stations all have Construction Permits for translators and currently carry MBI’s Spanish Christian “Radio Moody” network. Upon completion of these sales, Moody will only retain on AM band station: 1200 WFCN Nashville TN which was acquired in 2016 and is used to feed translator 98.7 W254CK Nashville
The plan to sell the three AM licenses follows the hiring of Rick Hall as manager of their digital radio properties. Hall, who joins Moody from the PD/morning host job at Pillar of Fire Christian AC “Star 99.1” WAWZ Zarepath NJ/New York. In his new position, Hall will be responsible for the ongoing daily operation, scheduling, growth and outreach of Moody Radio’s online channels including Praise and Worship, Urban Praise, Radio Moody, and Proclaim and Majesty.
Moody Radio seeks to transform the world for Christ, one listener at a time, by producing and delivering quality, creative, biblical content, which helps people take the next step in their journey with Jesus Christ. In looking to the future, Moody Radio is committed to Dr. Jobe’s vision to double Moody’s overall impact by the year 2030. Our strategic road map to achieving this bold vision includes audience growth through market expansion/re-alignment, and content development strategies.
Recognizing the limitations of AM broadcasting today, including the limitation on many AM stations to only broadcast in the daytime, as well as the dramatic rise in digital/online/mobile listening, Moody Radio will be selling AM 1110 in Chicago, AM 960 in East Moline, Ill., and AM 1470 in Anderson, Ind. Listeners in these cities will still hear Moody Radio broadcasting 24 hours a day on our strong FM signals. Proceeds from the sale of these three AM licenses will be used to further the expansion of Moody Radio and Radio Moody (Spanish), through the addition of digital/online content, new apps in both English and Spanish, and the acquisition of select FM broadcast licenses.
We’re excited about reaching even more listeners as we expand our line-up of digital and terrestrial channels to achieve the goal of doubling our impact by 2030!
