Matthew Braccili’s WHOL Radio is selling Spanish Tropical “Mega 99.5/106.9” 1600 WHOL/106.9 W295CR Allentown, 99.5 W258BM Bethlehem, and 1400 WEST/105.5 W288DS Easton PA to Victor Martinez’ VP Broadcasting for $1.35 million. The station is also heard on 92.9 W225CF Reading and 100.7 WLEV-HD2 Allentown. Martinez, is the former Program Director of “El Zol 107.9” WLZL Washington DC and “El Zol 99.9” 1340 WHAT Philadelphia. An immediate Time Brokerage Agreement has taken effect.
Former Cherry Creek Media CEO Joe Schwartz is being bought out of his stake of Stone Canyon Radio and Marketing.
Schwartz was part of the group along with former Emmis St. Louis Market Manager John Beck and Withers Broadcasting CEO Dana Withers that purchased a Flagstaff AZ cluster from Grenax Broadcasting for $925,000 last year. He was fired from the company in March and the parties have come to a settlement agreement that in exchange for transferring his ownership stake to Beck, they will change his employment record to say he resigned and pay Schwartz $27,560.44 in severance pay, $3,000 in moving expenses, and $4,025 in owed invoices.
Beck will now own 75% and Withers holding 25% of the company that includes Classic Hits “Rewind 92.5/104.1” KFLX Chino Valley, Classic Rock “96.7 The Wolf” KWMX, Conservative Talk “97.1 The Big Talker” KBTK Kachina Village, and Country “107.5 Kolt Country” KSED Sedona.
Red Peach LLC sells “CBS Sports 910” WUBR Baton Rouge LA to Freddy & Ana Cruz’ Power 102.1 FM LLC for $25,000. The duo previously operated 105.5 KDDK Baton Rouge and 1350 KZTD Little Rock AR. Cruz, who uses the on-air name Jaime Cerrato, was previously hit with a Notice of Unlicensed Operation for a pirate on 97.9 in the Little Rock suburb of Sherwood AR and that pirate’s logo can be found on the Facebook page for their currently operating “102.1 Power-FM” Baton Rouge, which is Baton Rouge Hispanic Education Family Foundation’s 102.1 KZLU-LP Baton Rouge, which has been operating despite never filing for a license to cover. KZLU-LP was issued a Notice of Violation in April for operating from a site different from its granted facilities and a complaint was filed by 105.5 KDDK owner Aaron Shanis stating that the station was running commercials.
3 Towers Broadcasting is expanding in Rochester IN with the purchase of AC 92.1 WROI from Bair Communications for $533,000. A separate holding company, Real Radio LLC will purchase the studios and tower site of the station for $55,000 and $15,000 respectively. 3 Towers, led by Scott Huber and Johnny McCrory, also owns CHR “Giant-FM” 1520 WSVX/96.5 W243CL/106.3 W292FH Shelbyville IN. An LMA of WROI will begin on August 1.
Southern Oregon University’s Jefferson Public Radio is adding a third signal in Redding CA with the purchase of Silent 101.1 KWCA Palo Cedro from George Flinn for $263,000. The former Hot AC “Mix 101” went silent in December 2018 due to the lack of a programming source. The station joins JPR’s Public News/Talk 1330 KJPR Shasta Lake City, AAA “Rhythm & News” on 89.7 KNCA Burney, and Classical/News 96.9 K245CS Redding/KNCA-HD2 in the market.
A Wray Fitch’s Jackman Holding Company sells 103.1 KFNZ Kualapuu HI to Hawaii Public Radio for $110,000. The Class C2 signal on the island of Lanai covers portions of Moloka’i and Maui and signed-on earlier this year.
Ronnie D Joyner Ministries sells Gospel “Hot Joy 105.5” WHLQ Lawrenceville VA to Gerardo and Ilma Ruiz’ Hosanna Christian Media for $57,500. The buyer has already begun operating via Time Brokerage Agreement.
J&J Communications sells Country “Texas 99” 99.1 KNES Fairfield TX to James & Michelle Watterson’s Lazy Bottom Holdings for $500,000. The buyers have no other broadcast holdings.
Translator Sales
JVC Media will acquire 89.7 W209BW Dunnellon FL from Radio Training Network for $5000. The commercial operator will change the originating station of the translator to Central Florida Educational Foundation’s Christian AC “Z88” 88.7 WMYZ The Villages.
Spirit Communications transfers 106.5 K293AY Enumclaw WA to Chehalis Valley Educational Foundation for $14,000. The translator will rebroadcast the buyer’s Christian 90.5 KACS Chehalis WA.
