Ahead of their acquisitions announced last month, a pair of Classic Hits stations on the Eastern Shore of Maryland have relaunched under their new owners.
The Voice Radio Network is purchasing 94.9 WKHI Newark MD from Vinco Media for $375,000. The company has relaunched the station with a focus on music from the 1980s through mid 90s under the “Delmarva’s Superhits” positioning. The station is running promos from a few former staffers of the 1980s “100 KHI” CHR incarnation of the brand promoting their debut on Monday, February 12. The PD/morning host of that version, JJ ‘Hitman’ McKay currently hosts middays at Voice Radio Network’s Classic Rock “The Vault” 1320 WJKI/102.9 W275CX Salisbury and 103.5 WJKI-FM Bethany Beach DE.
After Vinco Media sold WKHI, it turned around and purchased Classic Hits “Xtra 106.1” WXSH Pocomoke City MD from Michael Powell for $175,000. That station has now absorbed the former WKHI lineup and music under the name “B106” and new WBBX call letters in place. WBBX is focusing on a music mix from the 70s and 80s and will also serve as the Delmarva affiliate for Baltimore Ravens football.
