KMJM-FM St. Louis To Flip To Conservative Talk Monday

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
August 15, 2021

Majic 104.9 The Patriot Real Talk KMJM-FM St. LouisiHeartMedia will flip Adult R&B “Majic 104.9” KMJM-FM Columbia IL/St. Louis to Conservative Talk “104.9 The Patriot” on Monday morning.

The new brand will feature former “97.1 FM Talk” KFTK-FM morning host Jamie Allman from 5-9am. Allman hosted mornings at KFTK-FM until being fired in April 2018 for tweets threatening violence at Parkland High School shooting survivor David Hogg. He briefly resurfaced in 2019 hosting mornings at Salem’s “105.3 The Answer” 1380 KXFN until its sale to Catholic operator Immaculate Heart Media later that year.

The remainder of The Patriot’s lineup will feature syndicated talkers with Premiere’s Glenn Beck from 9-11am, Clay Travis & Buck Sexton from 11am-2pm, Sean Hannity from 2-5pm, and Jesse Kelly 5-9pm. Dave Ramsey from 9pm-12am and Red Eye Radio will round out the schedule.

KMJM-FM will join a quickly crowding Conservative Talk market in St. Louis as it joins KFTK-FM, CH Holdings’ “Big 550” KTRS, EpicSTL’s recently launched “NewsTalkSTL” 101.9 K270BW/99.1 KLJY-HD3, and Rick & Tracy Ellis’ also newly launched “Real Talk 93.3” on suburban signals 93.3 KRTK Hermann and 104.3 KVMO Vandalia MO.

iHeartMedia had promoted the “Majic” brand from a translator back to 104.9 in July 2020. The brand was on 107.7 from 1979 to 1997, 104.9 from 1997-2012, moved to 100.3 until 2014 and then was resurrected on the 103.7 translator in May 2017. The station is running sweepers telling listeners the brand will be shifted to KMJM-FM’s HD2.

KMJM-FM rose from a 1.7 share to 2.3 in the just released July 2021 Nielsen Audio ratings. It continued to be far behind Audacy’s “96.3 The Lou” WFUN-FM’s 5.7 share.

iHeartMedia St. Louis announced today the debut of the new 104.9 The Patriot Real Talk for St. Louis, effective August 16.

104. 9 The Patriot will be a brand-new FM news/talk radio station for St. Louis featuring local news and weather as well as around-the-clock breaking news and live shows hosted by the most listened-to local and national talk show radio hosts in St. Louis and the country. The station will feature an array of recognizable hosts, including five-time Murrow Award–winning St. Louis radio and TV personality Jamie Allman, as well as other leading on-air personalities across the country, including Glenn Beck, Clay Travis & Buck Sexton, Jesse Kelly, and bestselling author and speaker Dave Ramsey.

“St. Louis is excited to welcome a talk radio station featuring the latest news, opinions, and discussions from a conservative point of view that isn’t afraid to engage with the other side. 104.9 The Patriot will deliver all of that and more every weekday,” said John R. Beck, Jr., Market President for iHeartMedia St. Louis.”
