Cumulus Media flipped Hot AC “106.7 The Krewe” KKND Port Sulphur/New Orleans LA to Gospel “Heaven 106.7” on Friday evening.
As first indicated in our 9/9 Domain Insight report, the flip gives a full-powered FM Gospel signal to compete against the multiple AM stations in the format including iHeartMedia’s “Hallelujah 940” WYLD, which currently holds a 1.6 share of the New Orleans market.
J’Michael Francois, who currently serves in the dual role of Program Director of Cumulus Adult R&B 102.9 KMEZ Belle Chasse/New Orleans and Operations Manager/Director of Urban Programming of the company’s Baton Rouge cluster, will add programming oversight of “Heaven 106.7“.
KKND shifted from Classic Hits to Hot AC in September 2020, but registered a mere 0.3 share in the July Nielsen Audio ratings.
CUMULUS MEDIA announces that it has launched Heaven 106.7 FM/KKND, New Orleans’ Inspiration Station, a new Gospel radio station licensed to Port Sulphur, LA, and serving the New Orleans metropolitan area through a powerful 100,000-watt signal. Heaven 106.7 FM was formerly programmed as Hot AC station 106.7 The Krewe. The new station debuted Friday, September 10, 2021, at 6:00pm Eastern, with its first song, “Intentional” by Travis Green. Heaven 106.7 introduces The Mike Chandler and Friends Morning Show and The Willie Moore Jr. Show, with local midday and afternoon talent to be announced soon. Cumulus New Orleans also launched a new website for Heaven 106.7 FM at: https://www.heaven1067.com/.
Pat Galloway, Regional Vice President/Market Manager, Cumulus New Orleans, said: “I am extremely excited about this station. In a city that is rebuilding from a natural disaster, we need as much Inspiration as we can get, and Heaven 106.7 delivers in a big way. I also think the station will be very successful in New Orleans, as Inspirational Gospel is loved in our community and should be as popular as it is in neighboring cities, including Memphis, Jackson, and Montgomery, where Gospel is a ratings leader. I couldn’t be happier with our new station and thank everyone for their hard work in bringing Heaven 106.7 to New Orleans.”
J’Michael Francois, Program Director, Heaven 106.7 FM, commented: “Following the devastation left behind by Hurricane Ida, we are pleased to offer New Orleanians Heaven 106.7, a world class radio station that reflects the soul, resiliency and culture of Greater New Orleans. As we recover together, what better way to inspire, encourage and excite the Big Easy than with a taste of Heaven?”
