Nielsen begins its monthly release of PPM ratings with today’s Day 1 update including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston/Galveston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Long Island, Riverside/San Bernardino, San Jose, and Middlesex/Somerset/Union.

With this week’s January monthly, Nielsen has changed its methodology for the PPM surveys changing the listening credit threshold from five minutes within a quarter-hour to just three. The most noticeable change will be the increase in CUME for many stations.

New York

iHeartMedia AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW maintains its market lead 13.1 to 7.7. Audacy News 1010 WINS/92.3 WINS-FM rises 4.8 – 5.1 – 5.8 (stream adding an additional 0.7) for what Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is the best showing for the WINS brand since March 2018 and the best for 92.3 since it was Dance WKTU in Spring 1982. Audacy Classic Hits 101.1 WCBS-FM rises 4.1 to 5.3. Public News/Talk 93.9 WNYC-FM climbs 3.7 to 5.2 for its largest share ever to tie for fourth with iHeartMedia Classic Rock “Q104.3” WAXQ as it is up 4.5 to 5.2.

Spanish Broadcasting System Spanish Tropical “Mega 97.9” WSKQ holds at a 5.1 share, but its stream rises 0.6 to 0.9.

Audacy Hot AC “New 102.7” WNEW is up 4.3 to 4.7. iHeartMedia CHR “Z100” WHTZ is off 4.7 to 4.6, while sister Hot AC 103.5 WKTU rises 3.1 to 3.7. Audacy Classic Hip Hop “94.7 The Block” WXBK gains 1.2 to 1.6.

Red Apple Media Conservative Talk 770 WABC rises 3.7 to 4.6.

Los Angeles

iHeartMedia AC 103.5 KOST maintains its lead 12.4 to 6.1. Audacy Classic Hits “K-Earth 101” KRTH rises 4.7 to 5.8. With its fire coverage, Audacy News 1070 KNX/97.1 KNX-FM jumps up 3.7 to 5.2 (stream adding another 0.5 share) for what Huff notes is the largest share for KNX since Winter 1975 and the best ever share for the 97.1 frequency. iHeartMedia Hot AC “104.3 My-FM” KBIG rises 4.2 to 5.0, while sister CHR 102.7 KIIS-FM inches up 4.6 to 4.7.

iHeart News/Talk 640 KFI climbs 3.1 to 3.8. Public News/Talk 89.3 KPCC-FM is up 2.0 to 2.7. Classical 91.5 KUSC drops 3.6 to 2.5.

Audacy Variety Hits “93.1 Jack-FM” KCBS-FM is up 3.2 to 3.7. Meruelo Media Classic Rock 95.5 KLOS gains 3.0 to 3.5.

K-Love Inc. Christian AC “K-Love” 100.3 KKLQ is up 1.7 to 2.0. In its final monthly, Salem’s “95.9 The Fish” KFSH-FM inches up 0.7 to 0.8 with its flip to “Air 1” KAIA taking the final five days of the 28 day monthly.

Chicago

Audacy News 780 WBBM/105.9 WCFS retakes the Chicago market lead 5.7 to 5.9 (with its stream jumping 0.4 to 1.2). iHeartMedia Adult R&B “V103” WVAZ holds at a 5.2 share. Three stations tie for third with Audacy AAA 93.1 WXRT up 3.1 to 4.8 and Country “US 99” WUSN up 3.2 to 4.8, while Hubbard Classic Rock “97.1 The Drive” WDRV continues its slide 6.5 – 5.6 – 5.1 – 4.8.

Hubbard Hot AC “101.9 The Mix” WTMX trends up 2.7 – 3.3 – 4.5. iHeartMedia Soft AC “93.9 Lite-FM” WLIT falls 12.5 to 4.2. iHeart CHR “103.5 Kiss-FM” WKSC is up 2.9 to 3.6.

Public News/Talk 91.5 WBEZ is up 2.3 to 3.0. Classical 98.7 WFMT drops 2.4 to 1.7.

SBS Regional Mexican “La Ley 107.9” WLEY-FM rises 1.5 – 1.7 – 2.4.

Cumulus Media Sports “The Ticket” 1310 KTCK/96.7 KTCK-FM jumps up 5.7 to 7.1. iHeartMedia AC “Star 102.1” KDGE is down 10.1 to 5.2, well above where it was before Christmas music. Univision Regional Mexican “Que Buena 94.1” KLNO rises 3.7 to 4.8 to tie for third with Audacy Variety Hits “100.3 Jack-FM” KJKK which is up 4.4 to 4.8. iHeartMedia CHR “106.1 Kiss-FM” KHKS is up 4.0 to 4.3.

iHeartMedia Classic Rock “Lonestar 92.5” KZPS climbs 3.2 to 4.1.

Cumulus Media’s “New Country 96.3” KSCS slides 5.5 – 4.6 – 3.9, while sister “99.5 The Wolf” KPLX is up 3.6 to 3.9.

Service Broadcasting Adult R&B “105.7 Smooth R&B” KRNB trends up 3.0 – 3.5 – 3.7. MediaCo Regional Mexican “La Raza 93.7” KNOR climbs 1.2 – 1.9 – 2.1.

In its final monthly before joining “K-Love“, Salem’s 94.9 KLTY holds at a 3.6 share. “Air 1” 101.7 KYDA dips 2.7 to 2.6. First Dallas Media’s 90.9 KCBI-FM is down 2.9 to 2.2. Hope Media Group’s “Way-FM” 89.7 KAWA dips 1.8 to 1.7.

San Francisco

Public News/Talk 88.5 KQED-FM rises 9.5 to 10.7 for what Huff notes is the station’s largest share since January 2021. Audacy News 740 KCBS/106.9 KFRC trends up 6.1 – 6.4 – 6.9. Bonneville AC 96.5 KOIT is down 11.6 to 6.1. Classical 90.3 KDFC dips 5.4 to 5.2. Audacy Hot AC “Alice 97.3” KLLC jumps 2.8 to 3.9, which Huff notes is its best share since January 2022, to tie for fifth with Bonneville CHR “99.7 Now” KMVQ as it is down 4.5 to 3.9.

Audacy Classic Alternative “Live 105” KITS is up 3.2 to 3.6. iHeart Hot AC “Star 101.3” KIOI is up 2.4 to 3.1, while sister “Classic Hits 103.7” KOSF gains 2.0 – 2.2 – 3.1.

Audacy Rhythmic Throwbacks “102.1 Jams” KRBQ climbs 1.8 – 2.2 – 2.6. iHeartMedia Hip Hop 106.1 KMEL is down 3.0 to 2.5.

Cumulus Sports 680 KNBR/104.5 KNBR-FM slides 2.7 – 2.3 – 1.9 to tie its all-time record low set multiple times with the most recent being January 2020.

iHeartMedia AC “Sunny 99.1” KODA maintains its lead 14.7 to 8.9 well up from where it was before the holidays. Radio One Country “93Q” KKBQ surges up 4.7 to 6.9. Hope Media Group Christian AC 89.3 KSBJ dips 6.3 to 6.0. Radio One Adult R&B “Majic 102.1” KMJQ is up 5.5 to 5.7, while sister Classic Rock “107.5/106.9 The Eagle” KGLK/KHPT inches up 5.5 to 5.6.

iHeartMedia News/Talk 740 KTRH rises 3.4 to 4.6. Public News/Talk 88.7 KUHF-FM is down 4.2 to 3.8.

iHeartMedia Rock/Alternative “94.5 The Buzz” KTBZ-FM slides 5.3 – 4.9 – 4.6. Cumulus CHR 104.1 KRBE climbs 2.8 to 4.0. Audacy Hot AC “Mix 96.5” KHMX rises 2.8 to 3.4, while sister Variety Hits “95.7 The Spot” KKHH continues its downward trend 3.6 to 3.3.

In its first full monthly, SBS Regional Mexican “La Ley 92.1” KROI rises 0.8 to 2.4, which Huff notes is the station’s best share since Holiday 2014 as Classic Hip Hop “Boom 92“.

Atlanta

Cox News/Talk 750 WSB/95.5 WSBB rises 8.1 to 9.0 followed by co-owned Classic Rock “97.1 The River” WSRV jumping up 6.3 to 8.0. Radio One Adult R&B “Majic 107.5/97.5” WAMJ/WUMJ is up 6.5 to 6.8. Audacy Hip Hop/R&B “V103” WVEE trends up 5.5 – 5.7 – 6.1 for what Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is its best share since March 2021. Cox Adult R&B “Kiss 104.1” WALR slides 7.8 – 5.9 – 5.4.

Public News/Talk 90.1 WABE-FM gains 4.3 to 4.8.

Down from its Christmas music 6.9, Salem Christian AC “104.7 The Fish” WFSH is down to a 4.4 share ahead of its flip to Contemporary Worship “Air 1” WAIA in the final week of the monthly.

iHeartMedia Country “94.9 The Bull” WUBL rises 2.8 to 3.7. Audacy Rhythmic AC “Star 94” WSTR is down 3.7 to 3.1.

Audacy Sports 94.1 WIP rides the Eagles Super Bowl run to jump up 7.3 to 9.8, which ties its record high share set last October. WIP’s stream rose 1.7 to 2.9, which itself would place it in tenth place in the market. Beasley Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK rises 6.7 to 7.8 with sister Rock 93.3 WMMR up 7.2 to 7.6. iHeartMedia Adult R&B 105.3 WDAS-FM drops 8.0 to 6.6. Audacy News 1060 KYW/103.9 WPHI trends up 3.9 – 4.3 – 5.5 with its stream adding an additional 0.9 share.

Beasley Country 92.5 WXTU jumps up 3.6 to 4.8. Public News/Talk 90.9 WHYY-FM is up 2.3 to 3.1. Audacy Classic Hits “Big 98.1” WOGL rises 2.2 to 3.1. Beasley Variety Hits “95.7 Ben-FM” WBEN-FM climbs 2.3 to 3.0.

MediaCo Regional Mexican “Que Buena 96.1” KRQB rises 2.8 to 3.6.
