Doug Montgomery To Retire As Townsquare Media VP/Country Music Programming & Content

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
May 15, 2025

Doug Montgomery Townsquare MediaTownsquare Media Vice President of Country Music Programming & Content Doug Montgomery will retire on July 31.

Montgomery joined Townsquare in 2016 originally serving as Director of Content for its Grand Rapids MI cluster in addition to overseeing the Country format for the company. He was promoted to Vice President in February 2022. He previously spent over two decades at iHeartMedia’s “B93.7” WBCT Grand Rapids where also held SVP/Programming duties for their Grand Rapids cluster and was Country Format Brand Coordinator. Montgomery also programmed WGTR Myrtle Beach and WGTC South Bend earlier in his career.

Montgomery shared, “I have been extremely blessed to spend my whole adult life getting to do what I dreamed of as a kid: Be the guy who picks the songs on the radio and entertains listeners every day,” Montgomery said. “From my first overnight shift at WJPD in Ishpeming, Michigan, I knew the Country Radio was the avenue I wanted to pursue. Being a part of Country Music going to great heights throughout my career has been a great thrill. I am fortunate.”

Townsquare Media SVP/Content & Programming Kurt Johnson commented, “Doug is second to none. He’s been an influential programmer for decades, and we’ve been very fortunate to have him lead our Country team for eight years. His impact in building Townsquare Country’s success will leave a legacy. We’ll miss him a lot, but we’re happy for him at the same time.”

Townsquare is seeking a replacement for Montgomery. Interested applicants can find more information here.
