Former WQHT and WWPR-FM New York morning co-host Timothy ‘Buc Wild” Joseph passed away earlier this week at the age of 47.
Half of “Star & Buc Wild” with Troi ‘Star’ Torain, the duo first came to prominence in Torain’s “Reality Check” column in The Source magazine. That would lead to them hosting public access television show in 1998 followed by MTV’s “Beat Suite” before joining WQHT as morning hosts in 2000. After exiting in 2002, the duo would briefly host mornings at “Power 104.1” WPHH Hartford before joining “Power 105.1” WWPR-FM in 2005. After being fired in 2006, they would resurface at Dance “Pulse 87” WNYZ-LP in 2009 and they later would spend time in mornings at Radio One Hip Hop “100.3 The Beat” WPHI Philadelphia.
Torain shared the news of Joseph’s passing on Sunday, September 6 on a livestream yesterday. While noting that fans considered them to be half-brothers, Torain noted that he considered Joseph more of a son in terms of how he helped raise him. He commented, “He passed away Sunday. Possibly fentanyl; I don’t have a confirmation yet. However, Timothy Joseph aka Buc Wild, was loved. He had a support system. He and I were always in contact, but sometimes it was tough to get a hold of him.”
