Nielsen Puts Out Annual List Of Market Rank & Population Changes

Nielsen Audio ArbitronAhead of the start of the Fall book on Thursday, Nielsen has released its updated listing of market rankings.

With the elimination of surveys for Bowling Green KY and Burlington VT/Plattsburgh NY, Nielsen is down to 240 surveyed markets. It has also consolidated South Bend and Elkhart IN into one market bringing South Bend up from market #182 to market #130. Other big gainers include Laredo TX up six spots to market #184 and Waco TX up five to #182. Topeka KS (up to #196) and Harrisonburg VA (up to #228) each rose four spots. Honolulu was the only market to drop by more than two places with it down by three from market #65 to #68

West Palm Beach FL was the only PPM market to move more than one spot dropping by two from market #47 to market #49. Other PPM changes saw Seattle and Miami/Fort Lauderdale swap places with Seattle moving up to market #11. Denver rose from market #18 to #17 jumping ahead of diary market Puerto Rico ahead of the end of measurement there after Fall survey. Austin continues to grow moving up to market #26 pulling ahead of Salt Lake City. Nashville rises to #39 trading places with San Jose. Middlesex/Somerset/Union NJ is down to market #42 moving behind diary market Hudson Valley NY, while Greensboro/Winston-Salem NC is up from #48 to #47.
