TriArk Radio – Conway, Arkansas

TriArk Radio is seeking an experienced, energetic News Director to lead our local news operation based in Conway, Arkansas.

This is a hands-on radio news position for someone who understands that great local radio begins with being connected to the community. The News Director will be responsible for finding the stories that matter, developing relationships with local leaders and newsmakers, conducting interviews, and delivering timely, accurate local news on the air.

Primary Responsibilities
Gather, write, edit, and report local news stories affecting Conway and the communities served by TriArk Radio.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with city, county, school, law enforcement, business, and community leaders.
Conduct interviews with elected officials, community leaders, newsmakers, and residents.
Attend important meetings, press conferences, community events, and breaking-news scenes when appropriate.
Monitor local government, law enforcement, schools, courts, and other sources for developing stories.
Write clear, concise broadcast news copy designed specifically for radio.
Deliver professional 90-second local news segments on the air throughout the broadcast day.
Provide breaking-news coverage and timely updates when significant local events occur.

Previous experience in radio news, journalism, or a closely related field.
Strong on-air delivery and broadcast writing skills.
Excellent interviewing and story-development abilities.
Good news judgment and an understanding of what matters to a local audience.
The ability to develop sources and maintain professional relationships throughout the community.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
The ability to respond quickly and accurately to breaking news.
Familiarity with audio recording, editing, and radio production equipment.

We are looking for more than someone who can read news from a computer screen.

TriArk Radio wants a local reporter and broadcaster who will be part of the community—someone who knows the officials, asks the questions, makes the phone calls, conducts the interviews, and finds the stories our listeners need to know.

Our goal is straightforward: make TriArk Radio the place people turn to first for local news.
