I wasn't aware of this, but Clear Channel and CBS Radio made a deal, with Clear Channel trading two of their stations for five of CBS's.

Clear Channel will exchange CBS Latino pop station KLOL-FM (Mega 101.1) and adult contemporary station KHMX-FM (Mix 96.5) for KBKS-FM (Seattle), WQSR-FM (Baltimore), KXJM-FM and KLTH-FM (Portland, Ore.), and KQJK-FM (Sacramento).

The swap is part of conditions placed on the San Antonio communications giant by the U.S. Department of Justice so it could merge with leveraged buy-out firm Thomas H. Lee Partners LP and private equity firm Bain Capital Partners LLC, both based in Boston. The merger, which made Clear Channel a private company, was completed June 30. (This is last year.)

http://sanantonio.bizjournals.com/sanan ... es/2008/12 /15/daily6.html

Only reason I noticed this was because I listened to K-Hits on AOL Radio and saw that it wasn't there anymore. I hope Clear Channel doesn't ruin a decent station, but I won't get my hopes up.

Well, after listening to the "new" KXJM all day, they sound better than they did at 95.5. PD Lisa Adams is doing a great job with the transition.

BTW, I like the new logo:
Surprise! Surprise!

Here's the way I reported this story (source: http://totalpopularmusic.com/Behind-the-Microphone.html):

* Jammin' will continue jammin', MOViN moves out, but Jammin' is MOViN ... uh, moving in Portland, OR -- even though the station which has been Jammin' is changin' ... uh, changing ... to Sports. KVMX flipped from Rhythmic AC MOViN 107.5 to Jammin' 107.5, Hits and Hip-Hop, Friday night (May 9), and began simulcasting Jammin' KXJM until Monday morning (May 12) when Jammin' will belong to the former MOViN' and the new Sports format will be aired on the former Jammin'. KVMX has obtained the format, the intellectual property, the website, and some of the key people from KXJM. MOViN ... uh, moving ... to the new home of Jammin' is the morning show PK's Playhouse (with its full crew) and Program Director Lisa Adams. If all of this is not unique enough, the two stations are owned by different companies.
....Yes folks, KVMX has evolved from Rhythmic AC to Rhythmic Top 40 and has picked up "The Playhouse" from KXJM, along with the "JAMMIN'" moniker Friday (May 9th, 2008).

It looks like "Jammin' 95.5" will be playing sports instead of music: They're flipping to Sports on May 12th.
