Colby Ericson Returns To Kansas Country 92.3 Wichita

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
May 28, 2019

KS Country 92.3 KKGQ WichitaFormer PD/afternoon host Colby Ericson is returning to Allied Media Partners’ Red Dirt Country “Kansas Country 92.3” KKGQ Newton/Wichita KS in partnership with My Town Media where he has since joined as PD for that company’s Country stations across Kansas.

Ericson, who exited KKGQ in January, will host middays at the station while his weekly “35 South” Red Dirt show will air on Saturdays.

Wichita based Allied Media Partners (AMP) and Pittsburg based My Town Media have established a partnership that will allow personality Colby Ericson and his weekly red dirt country music show 35 South to return to Kansas Country 92.3 (KKGQ), beginning on Saturday, June 1st. Ericson will also host middays on Kansas Country 92.3, beginning Monday, June 3rd. With this partnership, Ericson will maintain his on-air and programming roles for MyCountry983.com and the My Country brand for the My Town Media country radio stations across the state of Kansas.

Ericson has an extensive history in country radio across the state of Kansas, most recently serving as program director/afternoon host on Kansas Country 92.3 until his exit in January 2019. Ericson has also worked for KVWF and KFDI in the Wichita market.
“I’m excited to start this incredible, unique opportunity. Being able to work with two awesome staffs and expand my 35 South brand in Kansas is amazing,” said Ericson.
Allied Media Partners is locally owned and operated by long time Wichita residents Matt Baty and Tommy Castor. It has been a priority for AMP to bring experienced, local talent on board to their organization and forming this strategic partnership with My Town Media is another step toward that goal.

“When AMP took over operations for Kansas Country 92.3 and I began building our on-air team, it was apparent to me that having Colby back on the air in a daily role and hosting 35 South was the best choice in improving our overall brand,” said Tommy Castor, COO.

“AMP is extremely grateful to Phil McComb at My Town Media for his willingness to partner with us and allow Colby to be back on the air on Kansas Country 92.3, while continuing his great work with MyCountry983.com and the My Town Media brands across the state.”
My Town Media is a Kansas owned Media Company operating out of 8 separate offices and studios in Kansas and consisting of radio stations, digital billboards, and numerous digital listening platforms to include MyCountry983.com.

“This is a great move for everyone. My number one priority on this was to ensure that we create a win for everyone involved and we did…starting with Wichita country music fans. Now you can hear Colby Ericson on MyCountry983.com from 2-6pm weekdays and on Kansas Country 92.3 middays; that’s over 40 hours every week! I’ve said this for a couple of years now, if you don’t love red dirt country music it’s because you’ve not listened to it yet. Colby is not just the best red dirt country music host in Wichita; he’s one of the best in the region based on the 7 Texas Regional Radio Awards he’s received. This is a great partnership. We are thankful to be a part of it, so thanks to Matt, Tommy and Colby for their vision on this,” added Phil McComb from My Town Media.
