On the heels of iHeartMedia CHR “Power 96.1” WWPW Atlanta revamping its on-air staff, Cumulus Media CHR “Q99.7” WWWQ Atlanta is revising its as well.
Moe Mitchell, a member of “The Bert Show” cast in mornings at the station, will pull double-duty in afternoons teaming with current evening host Jade Jones. Previously a stand-up comedian ant YouTuber, Mitchell joined The Bert Show in May 2018. An Atlanta-based rapper/singer, Jones has hosted nights at WWWQ since the fall of 2019.
Yvonne Monet, who previously worked at the station in its Alternative “99X” days from 1992-1999, will return as the new midday host from 11am-3pm. An influential club and event DJ in the Atlanta area, Monet also previously hosted at AAA “92.9 Dave-FM” WZGC from 2005-2012 and had stints at WNPL Nashville and 93.3 KKMR/KZBN and 102.1 KDGE Dallas. She also mixes regularly for The Bert Show and its events.
WWWQ Program Director Louie Diaz told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “The idea is to do a lot of content in middays, a lot of music stuff. We can do mix shows. We can do a TikTok mix or an old-school mix. We can do mixed of songs from the 20 years of Q99.7.”
With the new shows, midday host Rachel Ryan and afternoon host Adam Bomb have departed the station’s lineup. Ryan, who also was tracking middays at KLIF-FM Dallas and KQHN Shreveport, joined the station in 2016 after co-hosting mornings at KTFM San Antonio and middays at WABB Mobile. Bomb will continue to host “The Adam Bomb Show” in afternoons and nights for Cumulus’ Westwood One and weekends for many of the company’s CHRs. He had been heard on WWWQ since 2006 outside of a stint in mornings at 93.3 KLIF-FM Dallas from 2010-2012. He has also worked at WBZZ Pittsburgh and WHYI Miami in his career.
CUMULUS MEDIA announces that Atlanta Top 40 radio station Q99.7 (WWWQ-FM) will debut two new live and local shows on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. The first, Charged Up, featuring popular Atlanta club and event DJ and on-air personality Yvonne Monet, airs Monday through Friday from 11:00am-3:00pm EST, followed by a new Afternoon Drive program, Atlanta’s Vibe, featuring station favorites Jade and Moe, airing weekdays from 3:00pm-7:00pm EST.
Yvonne Monet joins Q99.7 following a successful 20-year career as one of the Atlanta area’s most well-known club and event DJ’s. Jade moves from Nights on Q99.7 to team with Moe from The Bert Show in afternoons for Atlanta’s Vibe. In addition to his new Afternoon Drive program, Moe will continue to entertain Q99.7 listeners on The Bert Show weekday mornings from 5:30am-11:00am.
