Joe Donnarumma Joins iHeartMedia San Francisco As SVP/Sales

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
September 6, 2023

Joe Donnarumma iHeartMedia San Francisco Univision PhoenixUnivision Phoenix General Manager Joe Donnarumma has joined iHeartMedia San Francisco as Senior Vice President of Sales.

Donnarumma had led Univision’s two television stations and four radio stations in Phoenix since January 2020. He previously spent ten years as a sales manager for Charter Cable from 2004-14, three years as Florida Director of Automotive Advertising Sales and Business Development for Comcast Spotlight, Director of Sales for WCNC-TV Charlotte NC, and Director of Sales for KUSA Denver.

iHeartMedia today announced the appointment of Joe Donnarumma as Senior Vice President of Sales for the San Francisco market, effective September 11, 2023. iHeartMedia San Francisco boasts a robust cross-platform presence and includes numerous iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing more than six stations with diverse formats such as music, talk and news.

In a market where iHeartMedia consistently reaches consumers across multiple platforms and delivers more live programming than any other media company, Joe Donnarumma’s expertise stands out. With a unique blend of transformative leadership and a proven track record, he will oversee sales operations for the company’s five FM and one AM radio stations in the Bay Area. Additionally, he’ll spearhead growth in iHeartMedia’s vast product lineup and dynamic events portfolio, reporting directly to AJ Punjabi, iHeartMedia Region President.

“Joe epitomizes the excellence we champion across broadcasting, streaming, podcasts, live events, and our digital frontier. His vast experience magnifies our dedication to leading the audio-digital realm. With Joe, we’re not just adding a title – we’re harnessing a powerhouse of industry insight,” said AJ Punjabi.

With over two decades of consistent success, Joe Donnarumma is a recognized figure in the media landscape. He joins iHeartMedia from Univision, where he served as President and General Manager for both Television and Radio Stations across Phoenix, Tucson, and Flagstaff. Under his leadership, the stations consistently surpassed EBITDA targets and achieved market share growth.

Before Univision, Joe made significant impacts at TEGNA, serving as Director of Sales in both Denver and Charlotte. Here, Joe revamped sales strategies, expanded market share and fostered a culture of high performance. His leadership resulted in new revenue streams and strengthened client relationships.

“Joining the iHeart team in San Francisco is more than just a new role; it’s the realization of a dream to collaborate with a top-tier sales organization,” said Joe Donnarumma. “What sets iHeart apart is not just its innovative products but its exceptional people. After spending time with AJ and the team, it’s clear the heart of iHeart truly beats within its people.”

His skillset extends beyond the office walls. Joe has played pivotal roles in team building, fostering a high-performance culture, and establishing durable client and community relationships. His influence also resonates in the boardrooms of respected organizations like the Cronkite Endowment and the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce.
