Chris Carlin Moves Back To ESPN New York As WHSQ Sets New All-Local Lineup

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
December 18, 2024

ESPN 880 WHSQ New YorkGood Karma Brands’ “ESPN New York” 880 WHSQ New York has officially unveiled its new weekday lineup, which for the first time in the brand’s history will feature all local programming from 6am to 7pm..

Along with the previous news of Michael Kay moving from afternoons to a solo 1-3pm show, the station has announced that current ESPN Radio national 12-3pm co-host Chris Carlin will return to the New York lineup to host a 10am-1pm show teamed with former New York Jet Bart Scott. Carlin and Scott previously were part of the short-lived “CMB” along with Maggie Grey that replaced Mike Francesa in afternoons on WFAN in 2018-19. Also the play-by-play voice of Rutgers football since 2004, Carlin has signed a new multi-year agreement with ESPN. He originally joined “ESPN New York” in December 2019 as night host before moving to the national ESPN Radio lineup in April 2022 spending time co-hosting afternoon drive and then moved to the 12-3pm slot in August 2023 alongside Joe Fortenbaugh. Earlier in his career he worked at WFAN as producer for Mike & The Mad Dog, morning sportscaster on Imus In The Morning and Boomer & Carton, and as weekend and fill-in host and then anchor/host for Sportsnet New York co-hosting the network’s SportsNight highlights program, Loudmouths debate show, and previously pre and post-game shows for the network’s New York Mets coverage, and afternoon co-host at 94.1 WIP Philadelphia.

Scott’s current co-host from 12-3pm. Alan Hahn joined Don La Greca and Peter Rosenburg in afternoons from 3-7pm for a soft-launch this Monday, while Dan Graca will host nights around the station’s play-by-play coverage of the New York Mets, Knicks and Rangers. Rick DiPietro and Dave Rothenberg continue in mornings from 6-10am. With the change, ESPN Radio’s “Greeny” with Mike Greenberg leaves the lineup, but all of the national shows will continue to be heard on 1050 WEPN.

“This historic lineup underscores our commitment to delivering engaging, locally focused content to New York sports fans,” said David Roberts, ESPN Executive Vice President, Executive Editor, Sports News and Entertainment. “With iconic voices like Michael Kay, the reunion of Chris Carlin and Bart Scott, the continuation of the fan-favorite morning show with Rick DiPietro and Dave Rothenberg, and the debut of our new afternoon show featuring Don La Greca, Peter Rosenberg, and Alan Hahn, we’re excited to deliver unparalleled analysis and conversations that truly capture the passion of New York sports.”
