Louisville Public Media AAA has made a Program Director change as Music Director Kyle Meredith rises to PD, while Stacy Owen will stop back to a new role as Promotions Director.
Owen has been with WFPK since 2000 and has been PD since 2005. She also spent five years at Northern Kentucky University’s now-defunct AAA 89.7 WNKU Cincinnati. She shared, “This year, I’m celebrating 25 years at WFPK and 20 years as Program Director, and it feels like the perfect time to reflect on what’s next. For a while now, I’ve been thinking about making a shift—not because I love this place any less, but because I want to keep finding new ways to make an impact. After a lot of thought, I kept coming back to one thing: better communication—both within our amazing team and with the artists, venues, and labels that make our music community thrive.”
In regards to her new role Owen continued, “My mission? Strengthening partnerships, creating exciting promotions, and making sure WFPK stays deeply connected to the music community. The work I currently do in these areas will be done with more intention. I’ll continue to book shows and sessions, but also collaborate on unique contests and content. I’m excited to help grow our presence and celebrate the incredible talent around us.”
Meredith joined WFPK as a part-time host in 2008 before joining full-time as Music Director in 2010. He will continue to host nights from 6-10pm at the station. Meredith has also previously spent time in the market as Music Director and Interim PD at Rock 105.1 WLRS, morning sidekick on CHR 99.7 WDJX and night host on Hot AC “102.3 The Max” WXMA between 2000 and 2003. He has also spent time in record promotions and hosts a podcast for Consequence of Sound.
Meredith said, “I’m pumped to steer this ship into a new era, one that’s been brewing in the back of our minds for years. Massive hat tip to Stacy Owen, the boss legend of two decades who’s shaped this place into what it is. She’s not exiting stage left but stepping into a new role where we’ll be partners in crime, scheming to catapult WFPK to heights only seen in our daydreams.”
