iHeartMedia News/Talk 640 KFI Los Angeles will perform a significant refresh of its weekday lineup starting Tuesday, February 17.
Mornings will stay the same with Bill Handel from 6-9am. Gary Hoffmann and Shannon Farren will have an hour trimmed from their show to run from 9am to 12pm. Chris Merrill, who just left afternoons at KTAR-FM Phoenix, and current KFI news reporter/host Michael Monks will be teamed from 12-3pm for “Monks & Merrill. Merrill has previously served as a fill-in host at KFI in addition to hosting shows at KFYI Phoenix, KOGO San Diego, and KMBZ-FM Kansas City in addition to KTAR-FM. Monks joined KFI in 2024 after previously holding roles at WXIX-TV, WNKN, and WVXU in Cincinnati.
Current 1-4pm host John Kobylt will move to afternoons from 3-6pm. Tim Conway Jr. slides back from 4-7pm to 6-10pm to fill the evening slot vacated by Mo Kelly as part of iHeart’s cuts last October.
iHeartMedia Los Angeles Division President Paul Corvino said, “The new lineup change continues with a tradition built on excellence. This is a great opportunity to add two new dynamic voices, Chris Merrill and Michael Monks, to our already nationally recognized roster of talent. It’s an incredibly exciting time for our brand advertisers and the greater Southern California listeners.”
KFI Program Director Brian Long added, ““The chance to put John Kobylt back in drivetime and move Tim Conway Jr. and his entertaining brand of talk a bit later for the evening crowd is a homerun for the KFI listeners. Starting the day with Wake- Up Call, Bill Handel, Gary & Shannon, our award-winning news team, and now the addition of the new Monks & Merrill Show makes KFI the most stimulating talk lineup in America.”
