Cumulus Media Country 99.9 KLUR Wichita Falls TX midday host ‘Big Jim’ Russell has moved to mornings following the retirement of Brad Austin on May 15.

Russell has spent over five decades on-air in the market mostly at KLUR where he previously had a 25 year run in mornings. He returned to the station in 2022 after hosting afternoons at sister “94.9 The Outlaw” KOLI.

Austin had been on his current stint at the station anchoring mornings since 1997 after working at it in the mid-1970s. He also worked in the market at KNTO and KNIN. He told KFDX-TV, “I have a lot of people who I speak with almost every single morning, and it’s like a family. They call up and they tell me, they ask me how I’m doing, and and they, they have their birthdays and anniversaries and things like that. And I have I’ve gotten to where they’re kind of like a family to me. And this morning on my last show, I talked to a whole bunch of them on the phone. And I’ll definitely miss them.”
