FCC Report 9/9

FCC Actions

The FCC has issued a settlement period for the 16 mutually exclusive blocks of applications filed in the January Auction 100 translator filing window. Any technical amendment or settlement to resolve the MX and not go to auction must be submitted to the FCC by 4pm on September 19.

Total Austin Sports Radio’s application to place the nighttime facility of 1260 KTAE Elgin TX on the Austin tower of 1490 KTSN with 200w has been dismissed as the FCC fails to find the move in the public interest. The FCC notes that while the night facility of KTAE already failed to cover Elgin, the proposed night signal is completely outside the 5 mV/m daytime contour. KTAE’s city-of-license was changed in 2012 from Taylor to Elgin as part of move by then owner Border Media Partners to move 92.5 KVLR from Elgin to Sunset Valley and into the Austin urbanized area.
