After sitting out their 90 day non-compete following their departure from Entercom Sports “105.3 The Fan” KRLD-FM Dallas, Ben Rogers and Jeff ‘Skin’ Wade have joined iHeartMedia Rock/Talk “97.1 The Eagle” KEGL Fort Worth for 2-5pm starting Monday, February 10.
With the addition of Ben and Skin, who will do a more general talk show than their previous Sports shows, the Russ Martin Show will move to 5-7pm. Martin has had multiple medical leaves over the past few years with co-hosts Dan O’Malley, Clo Raborn, and Alfie Coy keeping the show going.
Ben & Skin worked at KRLD-FM from 2013 until October 2019 after four years in middays at “ESPN 103.3” KESN. They previously hosted middays at Hot Talk “Live 105.3” KLLI and moved to afternoons replacing Martin when the station flipped to Sports in 2008. They also have worked at 1190 KFXR, 1310 KTCK and on Dallas Mavericks broadcasts. The show will also feature newscaster Kevin ‘KT’ Turner and producer Krystina Ray.
Martin’s career in Dallas dates to the early 80s before reinventing himself as a Hot Talk host in the late 90s when he replaced Howard Stern in mornings on KEGL. The show moved to 105.3 KYNG (later KLLI) for mornings in 2000 and moved to afternoons in 2003 when Stern joined that station before exiting with the 2008 flip to Sports. Martin then returned to KEGL in 2010 as morning host, before moving back to afternoons the following year. The show has been replayed in mornings on “Talk Radio 1190” KFXR since November 2014.
97.1 The Eagle, Dallas/Fort Worth Rocks, announced today the debut of the new “Ben & Skin Show,” effective Monday, February 10th. The “Ben & Skin Show” will broadcast weekday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Ben Rogers and Jeff “Skin” Wade will bring their hilarious antics and unique chemistry – a product of 37 years of friendship – to The Mighty Eagle. Listeners can tune in to hear the hosts discuss pop culture and sports among other topics. The “Ben & Skin Show” will also feature Kevin “KT” Turner, who will deliver the latest news and Krystina Ray, who will produce the show.
“We’re beyond excited to reconnect with listeners,” said Rogers. “They’ve always been the fuel for our rocket ship, and we think they’re absolutely going to love this no-holds-barred version of our show. We’ll have complete freedom to combine everything we’re passionate about into three hours of unfiltered comedy, pop culture and sports talk. We plan to explore it all in the funniest and most entertaining ways possible.”
“When we were offered the opportunity to be on a station that we grew up listening to, it got our creative juices flowing in a way that we hadn’t felt in a long time,” said Wade. “This is huge for us.”
