Max Media Norfolk has promoted Jay West to Brand Manager of AC “92.9 The Wave” WVBW Suffolk/Norfolk.

West joined WVBW in January as afternoon host. He has been a staple in the Norfolk market with a nine year run as APD/MD/afternoon host at Rhythmic CHR “Z104” 104.5 WNVZ from 1995-2004 followed by a fourteen year run at Sinclair Communications where he hosted afternoons at Variety Hits “93.7 Bob-FM” WPYA and programmed short-lived CHR “106.1 The Zone” WZNR until his exit in July 2018.

His promotion comes along with the exit of Rusty James as Vice President of Operations and Programming for the cluster. James joined Max Media Norfolk in June 2018 after a thirteen year run at Midwest Communications in Evansville IN.

Jay West has been elevated to Brand Manager of Max Media’s AC station 92.9 The WAVE. Jay joined the station last January as the afternoon host.

“Jay has proven himself to be an invaluable asset to Max Media. He’s truly talented, creative and has a remarkable drive to win. He’s the natural choice to continue the growth of 92.9 The WAVE”, remarked Keith Barton, VP/GM of Max Media Hampton Roads.

Jay has been on the radio in Hampton Roads weekday afternoons since the mid-90s. Prior to that, he hosted radio shows in Philadelphia, Houston, Buffalo and Milwaukee to name a few. Originally from Chicago, he calls the “757” home. Jay and his wife reside in Virginia Beach with a Doberman named Bentley.
