Cumulus Media has appointed David Corey as its Director of FM Programming in Detroit.
Corey will be overseeing programming for Country “New Country 93.1” WDRQ and Hot AC 96.3 WDVD in his new position. He most recently served as PD of Beasley Media’s Country 102.5 WKLB Boston from 2017 until June 2020. While at Beasley he also held the role of National Country Brand Manager. He also spent ten years in Canada as Program Director of Hot AC 104.5 CHUM-FM Toronto and VP/Programming for Bell Media. Corey began his career at CHR “Kiss 108” WXKS-FM Boston at the age of seventeen and would stay there for 22 year eventually rising to serving as APD/MD from 1995 to 2006.
Corey fills the opening created by the exit of Lance Tidwell last month.
CUMULUS MEDIA announces that it has appointed David Corey as Director of FM Programming for Cumulus Detroit, overseeing radio stations 96.3 WDVD-FM (Hot AC) and New Country 93.1 WDRQ-FM (Country). Corey most recently served as Beasley Media Group as Country Brand Manager and was Program Director for WKLB-FM in Boston from 2017 to 2020. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Programming for Bell Media’s 105 radio stations in Canada. Corey was also Program Director of 104.5 CHUM-FM in Toronto for 10 years. The radio veteran began his career at age 17 at KISS 108 in Boston, where he worked his way up the ranks to serve as Music Director/Assistant Program Director from 1995 until 2006.
Corey has been named one of the Top Program Directors and Top Country Program Directors multiple times by Radio Ink magazine and in 2017 was named International Program Director/Controller of the Year at the Worldwide Radio Summit.
