Nielsen begins its monthly release of PPM ratings with today’s Day 1 update including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Houston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Long Island, Riverside/San Bernardino, San Jose, and Middlesex/Somerset/Union.

Across the board nearly all-Christmas station was down year-over-year from the December 2023.

New York

iHeartMedia AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW is up 7.8 to 9.7, but down from its 11.3 in December 2023. MediaCo Adult R&B 107.5 WBLS is up 5.5 to 6.0 for its best share since November 2022. iHeartMedia Classic Rock “Q104.3” WAXQ dips 6.0 to 5.5. SBS Spanish Tropical “Mega 97.9” WSKQ rises 4.9 to 5.1 with its stream adding a 0.8 share. iHeartMedia CHR “Z100” WHTZ is down 5.7 – 5.4 – 4.9 to tie for fifth with Audacy Hot AC “New 102.7” WNEW as it rises 4.2 to 4.9, which Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is a record high in the long history of the frequency.

Audacy Classic Hits 101.1 WCBS-FM slips 5.5 – 5.3 – 4.5. With the end of the MLB season and both NFL teams tanking, Audacy Sports 660 WFAN/101.9 WFAN-FM falls 3.6 to 2.7 with its stream adding a 0.8 share.

Univision Spanish CHR “X96.3” WXNY-FM is up 2.6 to 3.0. iHeartMedia Hip Hop “Power 105.1” WWPR-FM is down 2.3 to 1.8.

Beasley Media AC “Magic 98.3” WMGQ New Brunswick NJ adds an additional 0.9 share for Christmas music.

Los Angeles

iHeartMedia AC 103.5 KOST rises 4.7 to 8.3, but its Christmas music is down from a 10.1 share in 2023. Audacy Classic Hits “K-Earth 101” KRTH is off 5.6 to 5.5. iHeartMedia CHR 102.7 KIIS-FM (5.1 to 4.8) and Hot AC “104.3 My-FM” KBIG (4.9 to 4.8) tie for third. Univision Spanish AC “107.5 K-Love” KLVE slides 5.5 – 5.0 – 4.8 – 4.1.

Audacy Rhythmic AC “94.7 The Wave” KTWV slides 4.1 – 3.8 – 3.6. SBS Spanish CHR “Mega 96.3” KXOL skids 2.5 – 2.2 – 1.9.

Classical 91.5 KUSC rises 2.3 to 3.0, which Huff notes is a new record high for the station.

Chicago

iHeartMedia Soft AC “93.9 Lite-FM” WLIT rises 5.5 to 9.8, but its Holiday programming drops from a 12.3 share last year. Audacy News 780 WBBM/105.9 WCFS dips 6.4 to 6.2. Hubbard Classic Rock “97.1 The Drive” WDRV drops 6.5 to 5.6. iHeartMedia Adult R&B “V103” WVAZ holds at a 5.0 share. Cumulus Media Classic Hits 94.7 WLS-FM inches up 4.6 to 4.7.

Audacy Country “US 99” WUSN trends up 3.8 – 4.2 – 4.4. Nexstar News/Talk 720 WGN climbs 2.3 – 2.6 – 3.0 – 3.3. iHeartMedia Hip Hop 107.5 WGCI climbs 2.6 – 2.9 – 3.1.

Univision Regional Mexican “Que Buena 105.1” WOJO drops 3.7 to 3.2. Weigel Soft AC “87.7 MeTV-FM” WRME-LP slips 3.5 – 2.9 – 2.6.

iHeartMedia AC “Star 102.1” KDGE rises 3.9 to 7.1, but down from an 8.6 share in December 2023. Cumulus Sports “The Ticket” 1310 KTCK/96.7 KTCK-FM is down 6.0 to 5.7. Cumulus Media’s “New Country 96.3” KSCS surges up 4.1 to 5.5. Public News/Talk 90.1 KERA-FM dips 4.7 to 4.5. Audacy Variety Hits “100.3 Jack-FM” KJKK is up 4.2 to 4.4 to tie for fifth with Univision Regional Mexican “Que Buena 94.1” KLNO as it drops 4.9 to 4.4.

iHeartMedia CHR “106.1 Kiss-FM” KHKS swings 4.3 – 4.8 – 4.3.

Salem Media Christian AC 94.9 KLTY dips 4.1 to 3.7, but with its all-Christmas move a week later than last year due to Thanksgiving falling later on the calendar it was up from a 3.1 in 2023.

Cumulus Media News/Talk 820 WBAP/93.3 WBAP-FM was down 1.7 to 1.6 to set a new record low for the station breaking the 1.7 share set each of the past two months.

For the third month in a row EMF Contemporary Worship “Air 1” 101.7 KYDA sets a new record high as it is up 3.4 to 3.5. Hope Media Group Christian AC “Way-FM” 89.7 KAWA falls 2.2 – 1.5 – 1.2.

Univision Spanish CHR “Latino Mix 107.9/107.1” KDXX/KESS slides 2.7 – 2.4 – 1.8. iHeartMedia Rock “97.1 The Eagle” KEGL drops 2.1 – 2.0 – 1.6.

San Francisco

Public News/Talk 88.5 KQED-FM maintains the San Francisco lead 10.3 to 10.1. Bonneville AC 96.5 KOIT rose 5.4 to 7.2, but its Christmas music is down from a 10.1 share in December 2023. Classical 90.3 KDFC rises for the fourth straight month 3.8 – 4.3 – 4.7 – 5.1 – 6.3, for what Ratings Expert Chris Huff notes is the largest share ever for both the 90.3 frequency and the KDFC brand (previously on 102.1 from 1948 to 2011). Audacy News 740 KCBS/106.9 KFRC slides 7.0 – 6.5 – 6.1. Bonneville CHR “99.7 Now” KMVQ is off 4.5 to 4.4.

With its mid-month flip from Sports Betting to a simulcast of Conservative Talk 560 KSFO, Cumulus’ 810 KGO is up 0.2 to 0.7, while KSFO only is down 1.7 to 1.6.

Houston/Galveston

iHeartMedia AC “Sunny 99.1” KODA is up 7.7 to 11.2, down from a 12.0 share a year ago. Radio One Classic Rock “107.5/106.9 The Eagle” KGLK/KHPT rises 4.2 – 5.5 – 5.9 to tie for second with Hope Media Group Christian AC 89.3 KSBJ as it dips 6.1 to 5.9. Radio One Adult R&B “Majic 102.1” KMJQ is off 6.0 to 5.8. iHeartMedia Rock/Alternative “94.5 The Buzz” KTBZ-FM is up 5.0 to 5.3.

Radio One Country “93Q” KKBQ is down 5.6 to 5.0. Hip Hop “97.9 The Box” KBXX continues its trend of gains 3.3 to 4.0.

Cumulus CHR 104.1 KRBE trends down 3.8 – 3.3 – 3.0, which Huff notes is its lowest share since Holiday 2013. Audacy Hot AC “Mix 96.5” KHMX skids 3.6 – 3.4 – 2.8.

Houston Christian Broadcasters Christian 105.7 KHCB-FM trends down 2.9 – 2.7 – 2.1. Univision Spanish CHR “Latino Mix 104.9” KAMA slides 3.1 – 2.5 – 1.9. In its final full monthly, Radio One Gospel “Praise 92.1” KROI is up 1.4 to 1.6.

Atlanta

Cox Media Group News/Talk 750 WSB/95.5 WSBB maintains its lead down 10.3 to 9.1. Cox Adult R&B “Kiss 104.1” WALR jumps 5.7 to 7.8 for what Huff notes is its best share since May 2020. Cox Classic Rock “97.1 The River” WSRV inches up 7.0 to 7.1. Radio One Adult R&B “Majic 107.5/97.5” WAMJ/WUMJ gains 5.5 – 6.0 – 6.7. Salem Christian AC “104.7 The Fish” WFSH-FM rises 4.8 to 6.5, but Atlanta’s Christmas music station is down from an 8.0 share in December 2023.

Cox AC “B98.5” WSB-FM continues its downward slide 6.9 – 6.2 – 5.6 – 5.2 – 5.0.

Radio One Gospel “Praise 102.5” WPZE rises 3.2 – 3.6 – 4.0 – 4.6.

iHeartMedia Hip Hop “96.1 The Beat” WRDG jumps 2.0 to 3.4 for its best showing since its move from 105.3 in April and the best share on 96.1 since November 2022. Radio One Hip Hop “Hot 107.9” WHTA is down 3.9 to 3.2.

iHeartMedia Country “94.9 The Bull” WUBL is down 3.9 to 3.9. Cumulus Classic Alternative “99X” WNNX slides 3.1 – 2.9 – 2.3. Audacy Rhythmic AC “Star 94” WSTR drops 3.0 to 2.3.

Beasley Media Rock 93.3 WMMR holds at an 8.3 share which gives the station its first #1 showing since October 2022. iHeartMedia Adult R&B 105.3 WDAS-FM dips 8.4 to 8.1. Audacy AC “B101” WBEB rises 4.9 to 7.8 and like the rest is down from its 9.5 share in December 2023. Audacy Sports 94.1 WIP is off 7.5 to 7.3, but its stream rises 1.2 to 1.7. Beasley Media Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK holds at a 7.0 share.

Audacy News 1060 KYW/103.9 WPHI trends down 4.8 – 4.4 – 3.9 with its stream up 0.8 to 1.2.

Connoisseur Media Hot AC 97.5 WALK is up 4.9 to 5.0, but down from its Christmas music 6.2 share in December 2023. iHeartMedia CHR “Z100” WHTZ is down 5.6 to 4.8 as Cox CHR 106.1 WBLI rises 3.9 to 4.6 with its stream adding a 0.6 share.
