Beasley Media has cut ties with Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK Philadelphia PD/midday host Eric Johnson as his position has been eliminated.
Johnson also had been serving as PD of AC WJBR.com/WBEN-HD2 Philadelphia and midday host on Classic Hits 105.7 WROR Boston for the company. He originally joined the company in 2017 as Director of Sports Content for the Philadelphia cluster overseeing “97.5 The Fanatic” WPEN-FM. After exiting that role in November 2019, he would return to the company in June 2020 to program AC 99.5 WJBR Wilmington DE until it was sold and flipped in 2023. Ahead of that sale, he began hosting middays on WMGK in September 2023 and added the Program Director duties at the start of last year. Prior to Beasley, Johnson spent eighteen years programming Townsquare Media Talk/Classic Hits “New Jersey 101.5” WKXW from 1999 to 2017 and has also held roles as APD of Sports 610 WIP from 1994-99, PD of Hot AC turned Alternative “Y100” 100.3 WPLY from 1991-1994 and programmed CHR “Laser 104.1” WAEB-FM Allentown PA.
He shared on Facebook, ” I am proud of the consistent Persons 6+, 18-34, 25-54 and 35-64 Top 5 ratings performance on WMGK overall …and on my own midday show. I will miss the listeners and my awesome coworkers. What’s next? I don’t know. Hopefully something in Philadelphia radio, but I have an open mind.
