Following yesterday’s announcement of Scott DeLucia’s upcoming retirement, Bryan Broadcasting News/Talk 1620 WTAW/94.5 K233DU College Station TX has announced the return of Tucker ‘Frito’ Young to the company as his successor.
Young began his career as an intern and then news reporter at WTAW in 2003. He would join sister CHR “Candy 95” KNDE as Promotions Director and part of the morning show in 2005 and rose to OM/PD in 2008. After leaving in 2017 for a position outside radio, he returned five months later as Director of Operations and returning to mornings until the end of 2021 when he and co-host Katy Dempsey departed first to spend three years in mornings at Cox Country “Y100” KCYY San Antonio and then at Audacy Country “100.3 The Bull” KILT-FM Houston until exiting in March.
Young told listeners this morning, ““I was excited by the opportunity, mostly because growing up in College Station and Bryan and around the area, if you listen to radio, you would listen to you (Scott) and Jay and Tom and everybody else. So this is kind of like being on the radio show of record for the Brazos Valley.”
