The top story this week was Atlanta’s 97.9 W250BC debuting its new format as “Journey 97.9“.
Clear Channel has signed on 105.1 W286BK Birmingham, AL. The 99 watt translator is owned by Way FM Media, but simulcasting 105.5 WERC-HD2. While currently airing Smooth Jazz, we expect the station to soon flip to Gospel as “Hallelujah 105.1“. Hallelujah1051.com was registered by Clear Channel on June 16. That would put the station in direct competition with Cox Media Group’s “Heaven 610” WAGG.
KGVY Inc., owners of 1080 KGVY Green Valley/Tucson, AZ and Edgewater Broadcasting are swapping translators. Edgewater gets 102.3 K272DC Oro Valley, AZ in exchange for the Construction Permit to 100.7 K264BB Green Valley.
Lakes Media’s 103.7 W279AO Danville, VA has launched its CHR “Amp 103.7” format. The station is rebroadcasting 970 WMPW Danville.
Backyard Broadcasting is acquiring 102.9 W275AJ Muncie, IN from EMF Broadcasting where it will be used to rebroadcast one of Backyard’s 6 stations in the market: likely News/Talk 1240 WHBU.
Emmis is applying to upgrade 102.7 K274AX Austin, TX from 75 watts to 240 watts. The translator is using to improve AAA 93.3 KGSR’s downtown coverage.
Triad Broadcasting’s 100.3 W262BY Peoria, IL has been granted a CP to increase from 140 to 200 watts. The station rebroadcasts News/Talk 1470 WMBD.
San Antonio Radioworks has been granted a CP for its 103.7 K279AB San Antonio, TX to upgrade from 81 watts to 250 watts. The translator rebroadcasts Soft AC/Standards “Call 1310” KAHL San Antonio.
