On top of today’s news of the FCC mandated shutdown of 104.7 W284BQ Detroit, a pair of other major translator moves have taken place.
On Friday we reported on 101.5 W268AN Plainview, NY’s attempt to move towards New York City. That is all moot. Following an informal opposition from Townsquare Media’s “New Jersey 101.5” WKXW Trenton, NJ, Apple Community Broadcasting has withdrawn the application.
Radio-One has completed its upgrade and move of 89.1 W206BI Hamtramck, MI to 99.9 in Detroit. The translator, which they acquired in December 2010 from Best Media for $120,000, has upgraded from 10 watts to 250. The translator is now simulcasting Talk 1200 WCHB.
