Newcap Radio’s “K-Rock 105.5” CKQK Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island shifted to CHR “Hot 105.5” at 12:05pm today.
What differentiates the flip from most recent changes is the entire airstaff will remain in place. The morning show gets a new name, going from the sponsored “Wendy’s Fishbowl” to “The Morning Hot Tub” but the hosts, Alex Hindmarch, Zack Bell, and Firth remain in place. Catharine Fox in middays from 10am to 2pm and Myles Mackinnon in afternoons stay in their spots. Kate Buick remains as PD. Listen to the debut of Hot 105.5 on FormatChange.com.
K-Rock’s website features the following explanation for the change.
To the Loyal Listeners of K-ROCK 105.5
“We’re here for a good time, not a long time.†Trooper said it best. Today we have some news for our friends, fans and listeners who have stuck with us over the past 6 years.
We are changing.It’s hard to say goodbye to an old friend, but today we are saying goodbye to K-ROCK 105.5. At exactly 1:05 pm, K-ROCK 105.5 will go off of the air. And the New Hot 105.5 will take it’s place. The New Hot 105.5 will be PEI’s Number One Hit Music Station. New Music. LMFAO, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Katy Perry. We know you will be upset, and feel at a loss about losing your Island rock station. However we are doing this for a reason.
Over the years, we have heard from many of our fans, why do all of the Island radio stations play music from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s? How many more times do we have to hear Patio Lanterns by Kim Mitchell? Where is the new music?
Newcap Radio has listened. Just like we gave you a rock station back in 2006, we are now giving you all new music in 2012.
We know you still want rock. And many of you want rock from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. If you are a fan of Aersosmith, The Who, Boston, CCR, and Def Leppard, and even Kim Mitchell, Ocean 100 will still play those classic hits.
What about Alex Hindmarch? Zack Bell? Firth? Catharine Fox? Myles MacKinnon?
The announcers on K-ROCK that you love are all staying on the New Hot 105.5. There will not be any changes to that. Zack Bell remains in mornings with news, Firth is still here, and we kept the British guy too! Alex Hindmarch will join you every morning. Catharine Fox is staying, and if you want to call up Myles and tell him your mom’s biscuits and jam are better than his, he will be still be on 2-6pm. The New Hot 105.5 will take over all of the charitable work that K-ROCK also did. The food drives, and all of the fundraisers, we will be there!
