Update 3/17: The 106.1 translator has made its move into Cookeville and along with 780 WPTN has flipped to Sports “Fox Sports 106.1 The Eagle“.
Original Report 3/8: A pair of Classic Country AM’s in Cookeville, TN will accompany its addition of an FM translator with a shift to a Talk based format.
“Cookeville Country 1600” WATX has already made the move to become “News Talk 100.9” with the addition of W256BC. The station’s lineup is all syndicated including Wall Street Journal This Morning, Dan Patrick, Dr. Joy Browne, Clark Howard, Tom Sullivan, Lars Larson, and Jim Bohannon.
The inclusion of Dan Patrick on 1600/100.9 may cause problems down the road. Great Plains Media’s “Classic Country 780” WPTN has registered the unwieldy FoxSportsRadio1061TheEagle.com for use when the station gains approval and builds its move of 106.1 W291CA Findlay, TN into Cookeville. That will include a boost from 10 to 250 watts. Fox Sports programming currently runs weekends on sister News/Talk “1400 The Hub” WHUB.
